Does P90X work? This is the most frequent question that I see people asking online and one that I get often as a Beachbody Coach. A quick answer is YES, it does work but this program developed by Tony Horton is not for everyone.
I would like to share with you a little FAQ page about Tony Horton’s 90 day home boot camp program, P90X. If you are wondering how I know this information it is because I am a P90X graduate, have added in P90X Plus workouts, and I am also an online fitness coach. Q: Does P90X work for someone who has not been active for several months and looking to get into shape again?
A: No, P90X is not a beginner program and I would not recommend it for anyone. This is a 90 day intense fitness program with 12 sweat wrenching workouts designed to get you into the best shape of your life. I would however recommend this program to anyone that has been working out regularly for at least 8-12 months consistently.
Q: How much time is necessary to complete this program?
A: P90X is a time consuming program and if you don’t have an hour to 1.5 hours, 6 days a week to commit then this is not the program for you. Yoga X is 90 minutes long and most of the other days are at least 45-60 minutes in duration. If you do not have that much time I do not recommend that you try this program right away. You might look into Power90 by Tony Horton instead as most of these workouts are 30-45 minutes.
Q: What special equipment is necessary for me to complete P90X workouts?
A: You will need a chin up bar, free weights or resistance bands, and ayoga/plyometrics mat all of which you can purchase from my Beachbody website. There are many other items that can help make your workout much easier so take a look around that website to see what is available for you.
Q: Does P90X work for people who are regularly active, not yet at peak performance but have a few extra pounds to lose?
A: Absolutely. I would highly recommend this program for someone who has been working out for several months consistently yet are still not getting the body you want to achieve. Tony Horton uses the concept of muscle confusion which keeps your body from reaching what we call a “plateau” which in turn produces faster results than a traditional workout program.
Q: How long does it take to see results from P90X? Does P90X work in as quickly as 90 days as advertised?
A: Results are 100% dependent on your ability to follow and complete all 90 days of the program as well as how closely you follow the nutrition guide. Those who decide to follow both the nutrition and the fitness guide are likely to see results every 30, 60, and 90 days. Nutritional supplements are also very important to maximize your results so be sure to check out my nutritional page to learn more.
Q: Where can I receive support and encouragement while doing the P90X program?
A: P90X comes with a nutrition and fitness guide to help you get started and ensure you get the most of our your P90X workouts. When you purchase P90X you also get access to a complimentary P90X fitness coach that is available to help you reach your goals. You also get access to a free website with Beachbody or you can upgrade and become a Beachbody club member which provides you with even more success tools you need for a small fee. Click here to learn more about both the free and the club memberships.
Q: What fitness program would you recommend if I like the format of P90X but want to start something off a little less intense.
A: In 1991, Tony Horton created program called Power90 which is a great started program before P90X. For someone that would like to eventually start P90X but are worried about being physical ready to commit to it yet, I highly recommend starting with Power90. You can learn more about this program by clicking on the image above. It is less time consuming, less of an initial investment, and it will still give you the results you are looking for!
Q: Does P90X work for someone who is looking to lose fat but not bulk up?
A: Yes, P90X comes with 3 different versions including the Classic, Doubles, and Lean versions of the program. For those looking to build muscle I would recommend the Classic version but for those, especially women who don’t want to bulk up then I encourage my customers to try to Lean version.
So, in closing does P90X work? It sure does but it is not for everyone but if you are looking to get amazing results from home, I can help you find a great home fitness program, provide encouragement, and recommend products to help you reach your fitness goals.
